Remembering boyhood pals, Privates Edgar Bennett and Joseph Walsh from Barrow Hill who worked together, enlisted together, served in the same regiment, died on the same day and are both remembered on the Thiepval Memorial.
and remembering Poolsbrook man Rifleman John Rogerson, TR/13/26757, 10th Bn., King’s Royal Rifle Corps who also died on 15th November 1916 and who is buried in the Peak Forest Churchyard.

Tyneside Z/7174, Anson Bn. R.N. Div., Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve, who died on 13th November 1916, aged 18
Leonard was a “boy soldier” who lied about his age to join up. He was still one year too young to serve abroad when he was killed.
He is buried at the Ancre British Cemetery.

People should gather at 10.15am at St John’s Road. The parade will march off at 10.25am towards Staveley Market Place and will reach the Garden of Remembrance at 10:50, when a short service will begin.
